Following his jazz style contrabassoon CD, Contradiction, Allen Savedoff's new album, SavoirFaire, is a potpourri of classical music for bassoon and contrabassoon, featuring both in a variety of unusual musical settings. Included in this project are pieces commissioned from multiple Emmy winner and film composer Bruce Broughton, Emmy winner Jeff Beal and producer Kim Scharnberg; previously unrecorded works by Gernot Wolfgang and Damian Montano; a duet by multiple Oscar winner John Williams from a film score and transcriptions of well known classical pieces, some in surprising new guises.
