Francois Dompierre - 24 PreludesAnalekta
After having premiered the work at the Festival de Lanaudiere in front of a record crowd of close to 7000, Alain Lefevre recorded Francois Dompierre's 24 Preludes in a boogiewoogie form, and many other things. "The cycle draws inspiration from jazz, pop music, and the broad repertoire of French piano music; it is both all of that and none of it," sums up the composer. The pianist and dedicatee says, "Without a doubt, this is Dompierre's greatest work. He put into it all his science of piano writing. In the style and genre, we stand in front of a major work of the piano repertoire."
