#Bloomerangs - Young Dads

#Bloomerangs is an Indiana based international music collective dedicated to exploring musical genres from all around the world. The mission is to integrate different cultures and sounds as a vehicle to a universal human expression through music.

The core group is Jake Jezioro in Bass, Chris Parker in Drums, Clay Wulbrecht in Piano and Rodrigo Cotelo in Guitar, and is enhanced at performances by countless talented international musicians featuring different formations that adjust to the location of the venues and the thematic genre of the events.      Meet the players

Jacob Jezioro – Bass: Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Jacob began playing electric bass and guitar in fifth grade, but his serious formal training began at age 14. Son of a classical bassist and Jazz guitarist, he was offered to acquire a double bass insofar and while practicing it, he begun being mentored by his father. Alongside his father, Jacob began playing Jazz tunes which helped him develop as an improviser and led to a few live performances. His development continued playing with Curb Youth Symphony and the Nashville Jazz Workshop for several years where he also took Jazz combo courses. JPJbass

In 2013, Jacob began his studies in Jazz bass at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.  During his time at IU, he has collaborated with many talented students and taken classes with some of the most renowned Jazz educators in the nation. Jacob is also developing as a composer while continuing to explore the history of music.  Jacob joined #Bloomerangs in 2016 and he will be presenting his original compositions recital in April 2017.

Among others, Jacob has studied with Joel Reist, principal bassist of the Nashville Symphony, Leonid Finkelshteyn of the North Carolina Symphony and Jeremy Allen, Kurt Muroki and Owen Lee at IU Jacobs School of Music.

Chris Parker – Drums: Chris is one of the up and coming talents in Jazz. Born and raised in Indiana, Chris has been performing on countless venues and festivals throughout the Midwest since a very young age and is one of the busiest Jazz Drummers in the state of Indiana.CP action

He has performed with Ralph Bowen, Jamey Aebersold, Roger Pemberton, Jim Snidero, Frank Glover, Dave Stryker, Monika Herzig among others. One of the jazz trios that he is a part of received a Downbeat Student Music Award in 2015. He is an active member of the Jazz Education Network and has organized their student jam sessions dating to 2014.

His unique skillset as a Multi-instrumentalist (apart from Drums, Chris professionally performs on Trombone & Euphonium for the Bloomington Symphony and is a featured Sax, Trumpet, Bass and Guitar player) makes him one of the artists to follow for years to come. Chris started collaborating with #Bloomerangs in early 2016 and is one of the featured musicians in "Horizon Sunset", #Bloomerangs debut album.  Chris will be releasing his first studio solo album in the summer of 2017, entitled "Moving Forward, Now"

Clay Wulbrecht – Piano: Born in Lafayette, Indiana, Clay began playing piano at age 5, taking interest in a variety of styles and genres. Classically trained at first, Jazz would later draw his attention after he started listening to musicians such as Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, and Antonio Carlos Jobim whom to date, are a big influence in his playing.

While attending Jefferson High School, he was featured in their Jazz band and combo, while also playing frequently on several counties with his own ensemble. His group included his older brother Reed, a saxophonist, as well as other musicians from  Clay ActionLafayette.

To further his music education, Clay decided to attend Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music studying with Luke Gillespie and majoring in Jazz piano. While there he has performed in the Brent Wallarab Big Band, IU's Latin Jazz Ensemble, and with guest artist Randy Brecker at the Jazz Education Network. Additionally, he received a scholarship from the Indiana Jazz Foundation his sophomore year. In 2016 Clay joined #Bloomerangs and recorded for the R&B band "The Brands" in their first record. Clay is preparing to graduate in 2018 and is planning on pursuing a Masters in music.

Rodrigo Cotelo – Guitar: Rodrigo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and he was always in contact with music during his childhood as he was born son of a drummer and a dance teacher. He started studying music (Keyboards and Piano) at age 7 continuing his development at Schubert Conservatory until his love for Guitar was discovered at age 15.

Among others, he has studied with Ricardo Lacuan (Vinicius de Moraes), Ryan Taylor and Fernando Calleriza. He has participated of several master classes (not only in Guitar) from prestigious international musicians such as Luis Salinas, Nguyen Ye, Sylvain LRod Actionuc, Jean-Michel Pilc, Yvan Robilliard and collaborated as a translator and interpreter (with occasional participation) on several clinics conducted by musicians' participant of Jazz Tour in Montevideo and the Lapataia International Jazz Festival in Punta del Este.

Internationally, he has performed and recorded on different stages and venues in a variety of different genres with: Joseph Filipow, Davide Garofalo, Ramiro Flores, Manuel Rocheman, Dj Fabian Repetto in New York, Paris, Barcelona, Dallas, Lafayette and San Diego.

Awarded a scholarship for "Performance Artistic Development" by Uruguayan Society of Interpreters (SUDEI), he finished his composition and counterpoint studies with Esteban Klísich. Now based in Indiana, Rodrigo has been working full time on music production for Indie Artists in the US and Uruguay while composing and arranging originals. He is a 3-time International Songwriting Competition Semi-Finalist twice in the Jazz category and one in Blues. In 2016, Rodrigo founded #Bloomerangs and has dedicated all his time and energy on the collective's first album "Horizon Sunset".
